  • In Lausanne center:

Transport from Lausanne to the hotels near EPFL

  • From Lausanne to the hotels near EPFL (The motel, hotel Pre Fleuri and the Starling hotel):
    • From Lausanne train station, take the M2 metro from the CFF train station (entrance next to Mac Donald), direction Les Croisettes. Get off at Flon stop. Change there to get the M1 metro, direction Renens. There are frequent departures.
    • Take Metro M1 to Bourdonnette, than Bus no 30, stop Champagne for Motel / stop Bochet for Pre-Fleuri, or walk (~15 mins to Motel des Pierrettes, 30 mins to Pre-Fleuri).
  • From Geneva airport: For participants who will come straight from Geneva airport to EPFL the best train station is Renens and from there the TSOL-M1 to EPFL (in the Flon direction). Connections are easier than through Lausanne train station. Most of the trains stop in Renens. Timetable is reachable at http://www.sbb.ch/en/timetable.html


Tickets:

  • Ticket vending machines often do not give change.
  • For the arrival day, the easiest would be to purchase in advance a train e-ticket from Geneva airport to Lausanne, incl. public transportation within Lausanne area (City-Ticket). The website is https://www.sbb.ch/ticketshop/b2c/mengenscreen.do
  • For the other days: A public transport card is included in all the hotels. Please ask for it at the reception on check in.
